Catherine Rimer is an experienced and versatile cellist and teacher who has played cello with us since 1995.
She was born and raised on Tyneside, and after studying in Manchester and London (supported by local author Catherine Cookson), she attended Prussia Cove for masterclasses with Steven Isserlis. This led directly to postgraduate studies with Steven Doane at the Eastman School of Music, NY, where she became equally fascinated by Historical Performance.
Since then Cathrine has enjoyed a busy freelance career as an established member of the London scene and as a guest principal with several other European groups. She has taught at the Royal College of Music since 2003 and has given masterclasses in the USA, combining her seriousness of musical purpose with a sense of humour and discovery!
